Hereford Ship House
Hereford, Pa.

* * *

About ten miles south of Allentown and five miles west of Pennsburg is the little town of Hereford, Pa. This town is home to an unusual house known locally as "the boat house".

Built in the shape of a ship coming out of the hillside, this house is quite a sight. It has portholes for windows, handrails around the "bow", and even a "bridge" to steer the ship.

In front of the house is a large pond complete with a "dock". The dock is a wooden deck with benches jutting out into the pond.

The ship coming out of the hillside seems as if it is ready to cross the pond and "tie up" at the dock. The well-maintained grounds (lawn and hillside) add to the effect to create a wonderful scene.

I will not reveal the exact location of this house. I do not believe the owners care for intruders, as I was once chased away by them as I was admiring it.
